XTB Review: Our Take

XTB offers an average number of tradable instruments and is quite limited in its offerings when compared to similar brokers and CFD providers.

X Trade Brokers also has a high initial minimum deposit and confusing fee structure. The fee structure changes per country and isn’t listed on the website.

That said, all XTB subsidiaries are fully regulated, and offer negative balance protection and tools for fundamental and technical analysis.

xStation is an advanced trading platform on XTB suitable for advanced traders. xStation has an intuitive user interface that can be fully customized to suit your needs and offer you a superior trading experience.

It is a browser-based platform which means that no additional installation is needed for you to start using it.

Once you log in to your account and launch xStation, you can select if you wish to trade with your demo account or live account using the drop-down menu at the top right-hand corner of the screen.

If you have multiple accounts, you can easily switch between accounts without having to input login details.

The default view for xStation is divided into 3 modules: Chart window, Market Watch, and Terminal.

The Chart window gives you access to charts, widgets, and other technical analysis tools for individual markets. This module gives you an in-depth market analysis.

The Market Watch module is where you open and manage your trades, and customize your favorite markets to watch and observe market prices.

The Terminal is where you can manage your trades, overall balance, pending orders, cash operations, etc.

Placing a trade on xStation is easy and fast, this can be done in three ways; via the Market watch window, via the Charting deal ticket, and the three-click trade functionality on the chart.

To place a trade on xStation via the Market Watch window, do the following:

Once you have found the market you want to open a position on, click on the market’s name to open an order window

In the order window choose the transaction volume and whether or not you want to apply a Stop Loss or Take Profit Level.

Note: Some Order windows have a built-in calculator that will let you know how placing a trade will affect the pip value, daily swap points, commission, and spread in pips and monetary value.

Once the transaction volume is selected, click on the green button if you wish to buy or go long and on the red button if you wish to sell or go short.

Once this is done, your trade will be placed.

Once this is done, click on where you wish to trade.

Next click, where you want to place your stop-loss.

Select where your profit target is.

XTB doesn’t offer the same trading fees in all regions.

Its spreads and commissions (where applicable) change per country and continent.

There are 3 major regions supported: the United Kingdom, Europe, and non-European and UK residents.

The minimum spread for United Kingdom residents is 0.3 pips while the minimum spread for EU residents is 0.00008 pips.

Non-United Kingdom and European Union residents have to pay a minimum spread of 0.5 pips.

For both non-UK and European residents and UK clients, XTB does not charge commissions on Stocks, CFDs, Forex trading, Stock CFDs and ETF CFDs, Stocks and ETFs, and cryptocurrencies.

The standard account is also swap-free in some regions but not all financial markets are available on such accounts.

    Inactivity Fees

XTB charges an inactivity fee after 12 months of inactivity and no cash deposit in the last 90 days. The inactivity fee is $10 or the equivalent in GBP or EUR and is charged monthly.

Bank transfers from the European Union and the United Kingdom are reflected in your XTB account within 1 business day. However, bank transfers from other regions take anywhere from 2 to 5 days to arrive depending on where the money is sent from.

Once you’re logged in, hit the Deposit Funds tab.

Client funds are also protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) in up to £85,000 per person in the event of insolvency of XTB.

Aside from compliance with regulations regarding client funds XTB also has structural and organizational security measures to keep users’ funds safe.

All connections between the XTB server and mobile apps on users’ devices are fully encrypted.

Also, funds can only be transferred to a user’s account, this means that no transfers can be made to another account with a different name or belonging to someone else.

Other available security measures include authorization by password, fingerprint, or a code for the XTB app and multi-factor authentication.
