How to use the bridge comparison
By Matilde Ferreira · Updated
What does the bridge comparison tool show?
It lines up two to four cross-chain bridges using the pillar scores from our published reviews, with a link to each full review. Nine bridges are listed. Six carry a score; Hop Protocol, Binance Bridge and Orbit Bridge stay online for reference without one, so their columns show no pillars.
How do you read the scores?
Each pillar is scored out of 5. Our bridge scoring methodology weights security and audits at 35%, transaction speed and fees at 20% each, chain and token coverage at 15% and reliability at 10%.
Start with security. A bridge is only as strong as the weakest party allowed to approve a transfer, and on messaging layers such as LayerZero each app chooses its own set of verifiers. A fast, cheap bridge with a thin verifier set can still score lower overall, and that is intended.
Why should you still get a live quote?
Because bridge fees move with the route and the moment. Across defines its fee as the difference between what you deposit and what you receive, with a liquidity fee that depends on how busy its pools are, and tells integrators not to cache quotes. Circle's CCTP charges nothing for standard USDC transfers and 0.01% to 0.13% for fast ones, depending on the source chain. The scores tell you which bridges deserve a quote; the quote tells you today's price.

Frequently asked questions
Which bridge is cheapest?
There is no single answer: the cheapest route depends on the token, the two chains and current demand. Get live quotes from two or three bridges for your exact route. For USDC, a route on Circle's CCTP avoids wrapped tokens, and standard transfers carry no Circle fee.
Why do some bridges have no score?
We keep reviews of bridges we no longer score online as a record. Hop Protocol, Binance Bridge and Orbit Bridge are in that group, and their reviews explain why.
Is a higher overall score always safer?
Not necessarily. Security and audits is the largest pillar at 35%, but speed, fees, coverage and reliability make up the rest, so compare the security row on its own before you move a large amount.
