The Skrumble team celebrating a great conference.

Skrumble attended SaaS NORTH last week in Ottawa.

If you live in Canada and you are a SaaS company, then you were probably there too.

SaaS North was Canada’s first SaaS Conference and it was aimed at founders, investors, and executives to make connections and learn from the experiences of others on how to grow.

1,000 people attended the event to see over 50 speakers for the 2-day conference where there was also a demo pit with about 20 companies showing off their SaaS products.

Skrumble was one of a few select companies invited by MaRS Discovery District to attend the conference and was in the thick of the crowd on the trade show floor showing off our new branding and the version 2.0 of our software, both coming soon.

We arrived at SaaS NORTH to find out that we had the most prime booth location on the trade show floor.

“We were lucky to be positioned on the trade show floor right between the entrance to the main conference hall and most importantly, the food, which meant we could catch people coming straight out of sessions once they had grabbed some food. At least 500 people must have passed by the Skrumble booth! The organizers did a great job with the floor layout so that there was always a steady flow of people at all times.” – Qasim

The Skrumble booth

By the end of the first day, the team had made so many valuable connections that the number of business cards couldn’t even fit in one hand!

A tweet sent out about the Skrumble team making great connections.

Our crew attended some of the many keynote speeches. Some highlights were Vincent Dignan, Founder of Magnific, who rocked the mic talking about growth hacking.

Richard McBee, CEO of Mitel Networks, who gave great advice saying that “Speed trumps features every time; You can always add features after,” and, to “Think big, start small, move fast.”

Mike McDerment, Co-Founder and CEO of Freshbooks, who has quoted earlier this year saying “There has never been a better time to be a SaaS company based in Canada,” shared a solid slice of wisdom to “take a project length and multiply by 3. That’s how long it will take.”

The team that visited SaaS North came back to the office on Friday with a revitalized energy for everything SaaS and couldn’t wait to share their experiences with the entire Skrumble HQ team.

“I was blown away by the presence of the Canadian SaaS ecosystem. It’s clear that there is a foundation for incredible things in the future.” – Eric

We are so excited to be a part of this growing community doing incredible things in SaaS.
